Minor Overview

As of Fall 2024, ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍønow offers a new minor in Political Science. With the broad topics of classes ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍøoffers in Political Science, the new Political Science minor offers students an opportunity to build a minor that reflects their interests and knowledge. Previously ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍøoffered a minor in Government and Public Policy (GPP).

Political Science Minor

The Political Science minor allows students to build a minor that reflects their interests and knowledge. With the broad topics available in Political Science courses that our department already offers, students can develop an understanding of Political Science in a specific area, such as International Affairs, American Politics, or Law and Public Policy. 

Declaring the Minor

Any campus advisor can help students to declare a Political Science Minor.

  • GPP Minor Total Units: 18
  • GPA requirement: 2.0
  • Upper Division Requirement: minimum of 9 units (courses numbered 300-499)
  • Residency Requirement: minimum of 9 units

  • Must include 9 units of upper-division (300-499 level courses)
  • Political Science Majors cannot complete a Political Science minor

Government and Public Policy Minor

The Government & Public Policy minor accommodates the interests and needs of students from a variety of degree programs. The minor is an excellent supplement to other majors within and outside the social sciences arena. You'll be introduced to the various sub-fields of political science and public policy and gain the foundational knowledge of political processes and institutions.
