MPA Alumni Spotlight: Malika Ghafour '20
Malika Ghafour, originally from Kabul, Afghanistan, is a 2020 graduate of the MPA program where she concentrated her studies in Nonprofit Management. In 2018, she began the graduate program and received a full scholarship along with a teaching assistantship at the School of Government & Public Policy.
Previously, she graduated from Oberlin College in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Gender Studies and a minor in Middle Eastern and North African Studies. After graduating from Oberlin, Malika worked with El Centro de Servicios Sociales, Inc/United Way of Greater Lorain, Ohio as a Youth Program Manager. Her work experience included mentoring and serving youth and young adults.
Malika has always been very passionate about advocating for youth and refugees around the world and is excited to continue that work with United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona (UWTSA). She currently works as a Youth Engagement Coordinator at UWTSA, where her role involves youth engagement as well as building stronger partnerships with community agencies.
