MPA Alumni Spotlight: Andrea Caicedo '20
Andrea Caicedo earned her Master of Public Administration from the School of Government & Public Policy in 2020 and was recently hired as a Management Assistant in the Manager’s Office for the Town of Sahuarita. In her role, she is responsible for collecting and examining data to increase efficiencies, leading projects that support the Town’s Strategic Plan, and providing ongoing assistance to the Town Manager and Assistant Town Manager.
Andrea first began her service to the Town of Sahuarita as an Economic Development Intern in December 2019 and transitioned into a temporary Economic Development Specialist in April 2020. While working in Economic Development, Andrea was responsible for developing marketing and outreach materials, coordinating and implementing programs/projects that support small businesses and local entrepreneurs, and researching industry recruitment opportunities.
Prior to pursuing a career in local government, Andrea worked as a Statistics Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Arizona and has over five years of experience in the language and technology solutions industry. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish Translation & Interpretation from the University of Arizona.
Andrea is grateful for the opportunities and connections the MPA program provided. She was not only able to learn from the amazing faculty and staff but was also able to leverage the expertise of her professors, mentors, and peers to obtain skills that are applicable in her professional life now. Andrea is passionate about public service and hopes to have a prosperous career in local government.
